My Favorite Part of Jane Eyre so far
My favorite part of Jane Eyre so far is the scene where the fire is started in Mr. Rochester's room. Here is the scene from the movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OS5SLdPiDUg. This is my favorite part because it leaves so many unanswered questions. Who started the fire? Was it Grace Pool? Why didn't Mr. Rochester wake up? Why didn't Mr. Rochester fire Grace Pool? and why did he leave so suddenly the next morning? All of these questions make me want to read further into the book, unlike some of the other scenes where all Jane does is describe a room or the weather. I am excited to find out some of the answeres to these questions later on in the book.

That is a really interesting part of the book. It does leave the reader interested in what is to come later on in the book. And Grace Pool, what the heck is her deal? At this point, she's seeming really psycho.
ReplyDeleteI definetely agree Alex. It does leave a lot of unanswered questions. I'm also wondering what is going on with Grace. There must be something going on with her because Rochester won't get rid of her, but what is it? Good post! (:
ReplyDeleteI have not read this part yet, but from the way you decribed it as being your favorite part, i am excited to read it. This post is giving me some motivation to read more in JE. Thanx buddy:)
ReplyDeleteI like this scene too. I think in the book it says that Rochester doesn't wake up because of something to do with the fumes... I don't know how you still wouldn't be able to wake up, but yeah. I do like this scene because when Jane starts going back to her room and then Rochester grabs her hand and says you can't go yet... uh love it :)
ReplyDelete---hopeless romantic :o
